How to Plan Your Family Vacations

We know our kids better than anybody and very often they remind us of the times when we were children too. Family vacation was not our favorite activity back then, but times have changed and today we have the ability to accommodate the situation into something more enjoyable without putting too much effort into it. Besides, family vacation prevails a great opportunity for creating a much stronger bond between family members, especially considering our demanding life style. The following are practical advices for successful holiday experience, vacation ideas and information on family activities.

1) Most vacation resorts offer inclusive packages with events, festivals, attractions, entertainment and accommodations directed specifically towards family type client. You do not necessarily have to go there, but it would be a good idea to look for vacation resorts offering fun activities, preferably sports related, since kids need to unload extra energy and will not sit quietly in any case. The point is to participate in such activities as a family unit in order to create great memories and form a trusting relationship that will last for a long time.

2) Sometimes spontaneous vacation can be very exciting, but when children are involved, you better start planning things in advance. One thing that you can do is find out their preferred games, so you can bring them with you even without telling them. Knowledge is power and knowledgeable parent must be prepared for different situations. Then, as you sit by the swimming pool, take the game out. May be the children will not like the idea at first, but when they see everyone playing and having a good time, chances are they will cooperate. Another great idea is to think about games, which can be played in the car. You can also invent games on the spot, but if it is too much trouble, prepare your homework well. Most complaints from the backseat can be tempered with simple solutions that can actually make it fun to travel as a family.

3) When budgeting for vacation, you will want to set aside at least a small sum for the unexpected. One area where you do not have to be caught off guard is souvenir purchases. Most kids want to come away from a vacation with a remembrance of some sort. Your best bet is to decide on an amount to spend and give that to each child at the beginning of the trip. You will find that most kids will be more cautious in their spending when the money is coming out of their own pockets. Your best souvenirs will be the photos you take, so be sure to bring plenty of film to avoid having to pay top dollar at gift shops, convenience stores and the like.

4) Finally, make sure that your family is having fun. It is acceptable to formulate specific rules for the sake of discipline, and believe me kids need authority, but do not forget that you are supposed to enjoy your free time. Yelling and screaming at your children are not going to help; on the contrary, one moment of rage may destroy all memorable experiences created so far. Try to be patient and find a good communication channel even if that might be difficult sometimes.

The list of family attractions is endless: scream down a winding waterslide into a huge pool of water, help your kids search for hidden treasures, visit safari, hold your breath as you anticipate the plunge of an enormous roller coaster hill, teach your child how to bait a hook, build a campfire or paddle a canoe. I can think of at least twenty different criteria, but let's leave it for another article. Hopefully, the above tips are going to improve your family vacation in the best possible ways.
